Bal Bahadur Thakurati (Er.)

Er. Bal Bahadur Thakurathi is a senior WASH professional with extensive experience in water supply, sanitation, hygiene, environmental management, humanitarian response, and sustainable development. Since beginning his professional career in 2006, he has worked across government, non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, and the private sector, giving him a broad understanding of WASH programming from policy and planning through implementation and project management. He currently serves as Managing Director of Kedar Group, where he applies his technical and managerial expertise to organizational leadership and development. From 2021 to 2025, he served as Water and Sanitation Engineer with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). In this role, he contributed to critical WASH and environmental initiatives within a complex UN peacekeeping and humanitarian setting. Earlier, from 2015 to 2020, he led the WASH Programme at Oxfam Nepal. His work focused on delivering effective WASH interventions, strengthening programme management, and addressing water and sanitation needs in humanitarian and development contexts. His career reflects strong experience in strategic planning, project management, technical coordination, and delivery of sustainable WASH solutions. Er. Thakurathi has a multidisciplinary academic background. He holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Humanitarian Action from UCAM, Spain, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, an M.Sc. in Construction Management from Pokhara University, Nepal, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Pokhara University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia. His combination of engineering expertise, humanitarian experience, public administration knowledge, and senior management experience positions him as a well-rounded professional in the WASH and humanitarian sectors.
